Bookbinding workshop in the Round Tower-EVENT CANCELLED
Learn the Skills of Handmade Book Creation- with Helen Bishop

Saturday 19 March 10-4pm

Creating beautiful handmade books is an extremely satisfying process and people who have attended Helen's workshops are amazed by what they can achieve in a short space of time.

In just one day you’ll learn how to construct a professional looking hardback book, ideal for use as an art book, journal or notebook. You need absolutely no bookbinding experience to participate and by the end of the day, you will have made your own hardback book to take home. Many previous participants of my workshops get ‘bitten by the bookbinding bug’ and have used their new skills to experiment and create more books independently.

You will be guided through the process of making your own multi-section book with acid-free 200gsm watercolour pages. You will be using specialist bookbinding tools and materials, and learning some terminology along the way.

All materials are included in the cost and tools are provided for the workshop. There is a maximum of 6 places for this workshop to ensure plenty of individual attention.

Cost £55
Booking essential. Please contact Helen Bishop at [email protected] to reserve a place.

Who do we think we are? Identity, Ancestry and Intergenerational Perspectives
A CPD workshop / talk and research event
Saturday 1st March 2014 - 10am - 4pm
Round Tower

In the first half of this event I ask why the phenomenon of ancestry research has become so popular. I will also recount some current and recent research into intergenerational dynamics and ask whether a longer term view, much spoken about but rarely acted on in is in fact something that needs enter-taining in all walks of life, including the practice of counselling and psychotherapy and in organisa-tions and the professions.

In the second half of the event there will be an opportunity to participate in a focus group that will allow participants to discuss their relationship to issues raised by the talk. This will part of an ongoing psycho-social research project into intergenerational memory and identity.
